About net11|photography

I'm Adrian Jones and photography has been a passion of mine for quite a few years. I'm self taught and spend most of my spare time reading up on photography, testing camera and lighting kit and taking lots and lots of shots.

My day job is working in IT as a Linux engineer so this has rubbed off on my photography as all my image processing is done using free open source software running on Linux. I mostly use digiKam for image management and the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) for editing and processing.

My general approach to photography is to ensure that the focus is on the images, not the equipment. I find this is an easy position to take since I don't have the budget for expensive cameras and lenses. My main equipment consists of a couple of Canon dSLR bodies (450D, 20D), a few reasonably low end lenses and flashes, and some budget and home made lighting modifiers. While the the idea of using high end kit such as the Canon 5DII and L class lenses does appeal to me I think I'll leave that until I'm earning enough from photography to justify it.

While this site does provide some examples of my photography, the main purpose is to provide clients with easy access to their images. If you have been given an access code and password, please click on "Your Photos" at the top and then enter the code and password when prompted. Customers can order a range of prints of their favourite images directly through the web site.

To get access to a wider range of images, I put most of the fun/experimental stuff up on my Flickr photostream. I've also recently started "Huddersfield in Pictures", a web site dedicated to images of Huddersfield and the surrounding area.

I'm based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Please look around the site and get in touch if you need more information.

If anyone is wondering what the significance of net11 is, well, there isn't any. I just wanted to register a generic domain name to use for my own e-mail addresses a few years ago and it's just kind of stuck around.
